  • A Review of Frameworks on the Determinants of Health

    Posted on June 30, 2015 |

Frameworks are often used to visually represent complex ideas or concepts. In the case of social determinants, it is not surprising that so many attempts have been made to create a “picture” or diagram to describe the factors that shape health and how they interact. This report provides a brief analysis of 37 frameworks on the determinants of health, and an in-depth analysis of the seven frameworks considered most useful for the purposes of leveraging action across sectors. Elements of a comprehensive framework to address determinants of health across sectors are highlighted. The report also includes a compendium of the 37 frameworks reviewed, making it a unique resource for anyone wanting to understand, raise awareness or engage in dialogue or action on the social determinants of health.
